Seeing our customers in full color at GFK’19

“BEST KICK OFF EVER!”

That’s just a small sampling of the messages we’ve received from FinancialForce executives, sales leaders, and other field representatives after last week’s Global Field Kickoff in San Diego. As with most tech companies, our field organization spans the globe, so last week’s event gave us an opportunity to bring nearly 300 employees together for a week of bonding, learning, and looking to the future as one team.

The overarching theme for the week? “See our customers in full color.” Our business success rests entirely on the success of our customers, so everything we do must help customers achieve and surpass their goals. Like most of my peers, I feel more invigorated than ever after last week’s kickoff event that FinancialForce employees, partners, and customers are poised for greatness.

Revealing the new brand

The moment our colleagues checked into the event campus, they knew something was up. And on Tuesday morning, FinancialForce CEO Tod Nielsen made the announcement official: our brand and logo just got a makeover! Designed entirely by our incredible in-house creative team, the new brand identity better represents our company as the modern, sophisticated, high-growth solution provider it is.

 

Making the maximum impact

Because we don’t always get to be in one place at the same time, we took advantage of the opportunity to host insightful marketing and product keynotes, customer and analyst panels, and other sessions to help us maximize our impact in fiscal 2019. A core goal of GFK is to equip our people with the tools, insights, and skills to be successful this year, so we carefully designed agendas and collaborative breakout sessions by role and teams, curating everything to focus on our vision and value prop, best practices, and goals for the year.

Recognizing our peers

Amidst all the learning, we also made sure to set aside time for team building and recognition. In addition to special team lunches and dinners throughout the week, we also hosted an awards gala at SeaWorld San Diego to acknowledge those colleagues whose contributions have made a huge impact on our business. After dinner, we continued celebrating by playing games and networking.

We also want to give special recognition and thank you to our amazing partners and sponsors that helped make GFK ’19 so fantastic. That includes ADP, Appirio, Avalara, Chargent, CLD, Conga, Expensify, Icon, Nubik, OAC Services, OpMentors, Vena Solutions, and VFP Consulting. 

Volunteering to help homeless students

In addition to ongoing social impact projects throughout the year, every GFK we incorporate a FinancialForce4Good volunteer experience. Last year we teamed up with Positive Adventures to build bikes for underprivileged children, and this year we partnered with Adolescent Project 2020 to assemble and donate 270 personal hygiene packs to homeless students in California. What’s your why?

One of the major themes of this year’s GFK was “What’s your why?” This inspirational question pressed everyone from the CEO to individual contributors to ask themselves what 3-5 things motivate them to get up in the morning every day and do the great work they do. Many of us shared similar “whys”—significant others and family, friends and colleagues, hobbies—showing that at our core we’re all driven by similar goals and causes.

What’s most exciting for me is that last week was just the kickoff to the kickoff! Instead of cramming absolutely everything into a one-week event, our field leaders have committed to continuing the conversation and training with regional and virtual GFK events throughout the year. FinancialForce is at a momentous point in its journey, and we know there’s a lot of work to do. We can only succeed when our customers succeed, and each of us only succeeds when our entire team succeeds. In other words, teamwork makes the dream work!
