Q&A with Justin Wheatley of NewVoiceMedia, FinancialForce Customer Community Star

The season of giving and feeling thankful is very much upon us. There is much to be thankful for in our Customer Community, especially with all the tasks and jobs needed to be done to leave a successful 2015 behind us and hit 2016 running. We have members from the full spectrum of our global customer base Northern America, Europe and Australia all engaging and collaborating with each other on challenges that they are faced with on a daily basis.

Our Community Spotlight Q&As to date have featured three of our top community members, interestingly all female so far, and all from the United States. Today we’re changing things up featuring our highest ranking British member Justin Wheatley, of British cloud communications company NewVoiceMedia. He has made a big impact since joining our community, sharing best practices, tips and advice as well as asking his own questions to try and improve the way that his company works. Here’s what he told us:

NewVoiceMedia have developed a true-cloud solution, ContactWorld, to revolutionise the way organisations connect with their customers globally, enabling them to sell more, serve better and grow faster. ContactWorld, a Cloud communications platform with 99.999% platform availability, is similar to the business models of Amazon, Google and Salesforce. Our customers benefit from enterprise-class communications and contact centre functionality, at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.

And what is your role there?
RVP Billing & Financial System (so I run the global billing team, and have overall ownership of the ERP systems that we utilise as a business).

Which FinancialForce products do you currently use and how do you use them?
FinancialForce Accounting, Rev Rec and soon to be using PSA. We moved away from Sage to a scalable cloud solution to scale with us as we grow as a business, we use Rev Rec to help with the revenue recognition of our software license revenue (and will be using PSA in the near future).

How important would you say community is these days in helping product users become successful?
For me the community is vitally important – being able to reach out to other users of the system to share best practices and pick up hints and tricks. I always reach out to the community if I am having trouble doing anything before I contact support, after all there are 1000’s of users all with plenty of experience out there so why not utilise them!

How often would you say that you visit the FinancialForce Community?
I am a regular visitor to the community and have a tab open all day everyday so I can flick backwards and forwards at my convenience. I’m always looking to engage with my fellow community members.

What would say is the most valuable part of our Community at FinancialForce?
Having access to other users and being able to ask questions, and get a swift response is hugely valuable to me.

As our top ranked UK customer member, how do you engage within the Community?
Its great to know I am top ranked UK customer! I am often looking for questions to answer, and also love it when people publish their hints and tips. I also like to keep an eye on future feature releases and am always keen to help out on any user testing. I have also given a few demos to other customers on how we use custom built objects with FinancialForce Accounting.

What tips do you have for our members on how to get the most out of the FinancialForce Community?
Firstly don’t be afraid to ask questions, you have access to many users out there who have been using the product for a long time who can share best practices with you and help you get the most from the system. Also join groups for which you have an interest in, and get involved with the user testing (that way you will have played a part in helping FinancialForce release some great features). If you see someone has posted a question and you think you know the answer – post a response. Above all the community is there for you, the more you utilise it, the more you will get out of it.
