G-Force: FinancialForce4Good is flying high for a great cause

This October, a team from Certinia Harrogate Office is taking part in the “You’re Inspired Challenge” to raise much needed funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice Harrogate and is asking for your help with sponsorship. The highlight and most daring feat will be a four person skydive!

SMH logoCertinia4Good, the company’s philanthropic initiative, allows employees to make an impact in their communities by donating their time to engage in activities that benefit causes that matter to them. This year, 10 keen and enthusiastic, cross-department volunteers based in the Harrogate office, have joined forces to enter into the “You’re Inspired Challenge” run by the Hospice. This competition pits enterprising teams against one another to discover who can raise the most money for the hospice in a one-month period based on a £100 loan. Previous years have seen teams from around the district produce cheeky calendars, arrange gala events, and even live in a shop window for a week!

Last Monday the Harrogate team kicked off their fundraising efforts with the first Certinia Fête. There was an epic bake sale with Rocky Roads, Lemon Tarts, and Chocolate Brownies that even ‘Paul and Mary’ (from the legendary TV cooking show “The Great British Bake-Off” for those outside of the UK!) would be proud of. A “Name the Bear” competition, Lucky Dip, Raffle and a whole host of other games and prizes were also on offer and proved a huge success!

Nail Bar

The team have many other events planned throughout October including a pub quiz, weekly nail bar, pop-up-shop and of course, a Halloween themed party. As mentioned above, the culmination of the fundraising will see four team members throw themselves out of a plane – all in the name of charity! Dominic Sumpter, Sales VP, EMEA; Kirsten Brumfitt, Senior Director, Employee Success; Sophie Dillon-Kelly, Business Development Representative; and Jonathan Arnett, Support Team Lead, have all agreed to skydive on 29th October in exchange for sponsorship. This adrenaline-fueled event has been chosen to drive the team’s fundraising total, help the Certinia4Good fundraising team climb the “You’re Inspired Leader Board”, and most importantly help and sustain the palliative care that Saint Michael’s Hospice provides to those in need.

Despite battling acrophobia, the four daredevils are desperate to ensure that their jump is successful to make sure that their Certinia4Good mission is accomplished. They’re making sure their friends, family, and anyone else who will listen have all sponsored their descent from 15,000ft, and would gladly accept all donations to make their leap worthwhile.
