5 SF museums to visit while you're in town for Dreamforce 2016

San Francisco is well known for many things – world famous restaurants, classic movie scenes, steep hills and of course, amazing SF museums. From the newly remodeled Museum of Modern Art to the family favorite California Academy of Sciences, its not a trip to the City by the Bay without stopping at one of its many museums. If you’re coming to Dreamforce this year and have some free time in your busy schedule, make sure to take a trip to at least one of these 5 San Francisco favorites:

California Academy of Sciences

Have you ever seen an Albino alligator? Well here’s your chance. Meet Claude – he is 20 years old, lacks the pigment melanin and is quite a sight to see! In addition to Claude, you will see thousands of critters at the beautiful museum in Golden Gate Park. See an incredible aquarium with a variety of Jellyfish, a four story rainforest dome where butterflies land freely on your head, a coral reef ecosystem, penguins, a planetarium – the list goes on! There’s even a 2.5 acre “living roof” you can explore. Learn more about the California Academy of Sciences.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

Unless your entire time is booked with awesome sessions, this museum is too convenient not to check out. It’s located in the heart of Yerba Buena Gardens, which is right next to the conference at Moscone. Pushing boundaries and supporting the Bay Area art community all at once, the museum shows contemporary visual art, film/video, performances and innovative community engagement programs. Learn more about YBCA.

Museum of African Diaspora
 (MoAD)

As you walk down Mission street towards the conference, you will notice a huge glass facade and a beautiful building – this is MoAD. This museum showcases the history, art and the cultural richness that resulted from the dispersal of Africans throughout the Africa Diaspora. For the second year in a row, FinancialForce will be using this building as our official Dreamforce headquarters – ERPcentral. So come on in, check out the beautiful space, see some sessions and meet our team. Learn more about MoAD.

Exploratorium

This place is seriously fun. Now at Pier 15 on the Embarcadero, come explore more than 600 hands-on exhibits and enjoy breathtaking views of the city and bay in the spectacular glass-and-steel Bay Observatory. Learn more about Exploratorium.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)

The newly redesigned SFMOMA was originally founded in 1935 as the first West Coast museum devoted to modern and contemporary art. With a huge expansion, it now displays more than 33,000 modern and contemporary artworks and an entire floor dedicated solely to photography. If you love art, you cannot miss this one. Learn more about SFMOMA.

Though we’ve named 5 wonderful museums in this post, there are so many more the city has to offer. If you have time or are extending your stay into a vacation, here are some other amazing museums to check out: Legion of Honor, de Young Museum, The Walt Disney Museum, Contemporary Jewish Museum, California Historical Society, Asian Art Museum, Museum of Craft & Design plus more. Who knew that a 7 mile x 7 mile city can hold so much art!? We are lucky.
